Ever since we purchased the Xbox One, I have certainly been playing more games! I currently have five games for the Xbox One: Alien Isolation, Assassin’s Creed Unity, Forza Horizon 2, Grand Theft Auto V: Remastered, and Tomb Raider (2013): Remastered. I have seen a lot of movies lately too (I go see a movie once a week in theatres so I tend to be very caught up on new films, especially more niche ones). The past few months have been full of gaming from Mother 3 to Super Smash Bros for Wii U!
Let’s start with the game that I have put the most time into thus far: Mother 3. I don’t want to talk about it too much because I can’t wait to do a video review on it later, but I will say that it is an excellent JRPG with a very interesting story that doesn’t over complicate itself. It has the charm of Mother 2, but it is a completely different kind of RPG. Rather than save the world, you are trying to save your hometown. It has a creepy vibe to it, almost like if I took the Stepford Wives and Earthbound and mixed them together. Mother 3 has definitely not disappointed thus far and I am about 80% into the game.
My other favourite game the fast few months? Alien Isolation. Wow. While this game may be pretty repetitive, it is downright scary and very fun. I play it in relatively short sessions because I’ll admit, it is repetitive, but damn, Xenomorph…you SCARY! The A.I. of the xenomorph in this game is very impressive as it learns your bullshit (in other words, it knows after awhile that you are just throwing an object to distract it and won’t fall for it anymore) and also cannot be killed. This game is pure survival horror and you just need to HIDE and avoid the xenomorph at all costs. This game is incredibly frightening and I am not afraid to admit that I have hit in lockers for longer than I should have (ie. 30 minutes…) and I have done that more than once. XD The amount of detail in this game is also very impressive as they took the time to make it look exactly like the universe from the original film from ’79.
Super Smash Bros. for Wii U came out not long ago and I will admit that I enjoyed playing it online for a planned game night with friends online; however, it really isn’t my thing. To be honest, I am kind of mad I bought it day one because Smash Bros has never been my thing. I find it to get old REALLY fast and just a lot of button mashing. I will admit that I am not good at fighters, but after an hour of Smash Bros., you have kind of seen all it has to offer. This may be an unpopular opinion, but I found Super Smash Bros. Wii U rather disappointing.
The first batch of DLC for Mario Kart 8; however, was released, and it is great. They made the courses much more difficult than most that came with the game and they are extraordinary!!! Now I have three new playable racers, and eight (EIGHT!!!) new tracks to race! The second half of the DLC comes out next year in the spring, which is a little too long in my opinion, but I can’t wait! I definitely recommend if you are going to spend the money for just one game on DLC, do it on this game.
I have also been playing Assassin’s Creed Unity (not a ton, but some anyway), and the game looks stunning. The reason I was so excited for this was because I think the French Revolution is very interesting, and because I haven’t played an Assassin’s Creed game since Assassin’s Creed II, so in other words I am not really that sick of them yet! Ubisoft spits these games out like Call of Duty’s and I think that’s pretty lame, but this particular installment caught my eye. I have to admit the story is not very engaging and pretty confusing, but just exploring Paris in the late 1700s is pretty neat. Major complaint though: ALL THE CHARACTERS HAVE BRITISH ACCENTS. WHY UBISOFT WHY! No wonder the French didn’t like this game, lol. That’s pretty insulting.
Around Halloween I purchased Corpse Party to play, and while I am not done and took a break from it, I am excited to go back as the premise was pretty intriguing. Creepy visual novels are definitely my thing!
That pretty much covers it for what I have been playing lately. I have been obsessed with Mother 3 which is why I am so far into the game only having started it a few weeks ago. Brilliant game. Once I finish that, the video review will be up! That’s it for today and stay tuned for more fun posts and videos!

All fantastic games here Paige! I agree that Smash U is not gripping me as much as the past games did. Short bursts but I rather play my Persona Q….
Can’t wait for the final thoughts on Mother 3.
Thank Mike!!! Yeah, Smash just didn’t do it for me. I have a feeling this may be my last Smash game unless they really change things up…oh well, can’t like everything Nintendo does! Or any company for that matter. OMG! SOOOOOO close to finishing Mother 3. It should be this week for sure! 🙂
I really like reading a post that will make people think.
Also, thank you for allowing me to comment!
Hello friends, its fantastic post about cultureand fully defined, keep
it up all the time.
I’m amazed, I must say. Rarely do I encounter a blog that’s both educative and amusing, and let me tell you, you’ve hit the nail
on the head. The issue is an issue that too few folks are speaking intelligently about.
I am very happy that I stumbled across this during my search
for something relating to this.
Can I simply just say what a comfort to discover a person that
truly knows what they are discussing over the internet.
You definitely realize how to bring an issue to light
and make it important. More people should check this out and understand this side of the story.
It’s surprising you aren’t more popular because
you definitely have the gift.
